Dick Elliott: A Mission of Service

Dick moved to the Grand Strand in 1959 from Camden, South Carolina. He attended Wingate Junior College in North Carolina and Clemson University in South Carolina.

He started Elliott Beach Rentals in 1959. Knowing that people moving here are interested in job diversification and an overall high quality of life, Dick remains expertly knowledgeable in job creation practices. He also knows the importance of a strong education system because today's students are tomorrow's doctors, teachers, farmers, tradesmen and manufacturers.

He has been a South Carolina senator since 1992 and State representative for the 10 years prior. He served with 100% attendance each day the House was in session for 10 years, an unparalleled record in the history of South Carolina, and he has continued to work with the same commitment and dedication during 12 years in the state Senate. Dick's leadership gives this region a voice statewide.

Whether he's working on behalf of road improvements, business incentives or job creation, Dick Elliott knows that the key to success is more open government and better government, not more government. He genuinely enjoys meeting people and helping them get better service from government.

Dick's realty company employs dozens of people with diverse backgrounds, from former bankers and teachers to golf directors and condominium managers. Tina Blaser of New York worked with children living with disabilities and Frank Murphy, also from New York, was a volunteer firefighter and retired from IBM Corporation before they began working with Elliott Realty.

"He treats everyone very fairly and would do anything for anybody," Tina said about Dick, whom she feels is an outstanding leader.

"Senator Elliott is a gentleman," said Frank "and he diligently works on behalf of his constituents."

Dick and his wife Anne have one daughter, two sons and three grandchildren.
